Microgravity experiments make water look mesmerizing

Dr. Donald Pettit conducted multiple fluid physics experiments while on-board the International Space Station to observe how water behaves when lessĀ hindered by gravity.

Pettit found that when air was injected into small droplets of water, bubbles swirled around like a small galaxy. As movement inside the water droplet settled down, the tiny bubbles would coalesce into one large floating bubble. Pettit named this process theĀ “Symphony of Spheres.”

The original NASA research footage was remixed by the brilliant team over at Sploid and set to the Kevin MacLeod track “Odyssey” by Kevin MacLeo. The result is simply mesmerizing.
