From Mel Blanc to Billy West, a list of the best voice talents must include Fred Armisen.
Developing a set of authentic accents requires time, and Armisen has mastered the craft. Here we see him demonstrating dialects ranging from the UK to the southern parts of the United States.
Armisen notes that each vernacular contains nuance. For example, he observed that people from Louisiana tend to use a more regal and rounded tone. Whereas those residing in Arkansas speak with a more percussive nature and those from Tennessee have a more reflective phrasing that also draws back at consonants. Armisen shares that individuals from Tennessee sound like “they’re always thinking about something.”
It’s these small differences and patterns that Armisen employs to get his voice into character, and the results are amazing.
